Business overview
We primarily focus on producing and selling industrial products made from precious metals.
The precious metals that form the foundation of our group’s products—centered on Platinum Group Metals (PGMs: platinum, iridium, palladium, rhodium, and ruthenium)—possess exceptional properties such as heat resistance, chemical stability, electrical conductivity, and catalytic activity. These characteristics make them indispensable materials that support progress across a wide range of fields, including semiconductors, electronics, optical glass, clean energy, environmental technologies, and medical applications.
Among precious metals, we specialize in PGMs, which offer superior performance characteristics, and manufacture and sell industrial products such as crucibles (heat-resistant containers), thin-film materials, and thermocouples (temperature sensors).
Our products are broadly classified into five segments according to their applications: Electronics, Thin Film, Thermal, Fine Chemicals & Recycling, and Supply Chain Support.
Electronics
We manufacture and sell industrial precious metal products used in the production of oxide single crystals—synthetic crystals with controlled optical or electromagnetic properties—employed in a variety of high-tech applications.
These include crucibles and related components used for crystal growth in SAW filters (which extract specific frequency signals in mobile phones), optical isolators for optical fiber amplifiers (which prevent unwanted signal reflections in communication systems), and scintillators for positron emission tomography (PET) scanners used in cancer diagnostics.
Our products are also used in the melting and forming of optical materials such as displays and lenses, supporting the manufacture of advanced electronic and optical devices.
Thin Film
We manufacture and sell precious metal sputtering targets—high-purity or alloyed metal plates—used in thin-film deposition for magnetic recording media such as HDDs and in next-generation semiconductors.
In addition, at our Tsukuba Research and Development Center, we operate advanced sputtering systems to provide contract thin-film deposition services that support our customers’ product development and manufacturing processes.
Thermal
We manufacture and sell thermocouples and related products used for continuous temperature measurement and control in high-temperature processes such as silicon and compound semiconductor fabrication, as well as fine ceramics production.
Our product lineup also includes components that enhance thermal efficiency and temperature control in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, enabling precise process management in advanced production environments.
Fine Chemicals & Recycling
We manufacture and sell precious metal compounds for various catalytic applications, as well as high-purity compounds used as phosphorescent materials for OLEDs, catalysts, and electrodes.
We also provide contract-based recycling and refining services for industrial precious metals, helping improve resource efficiency and support sustainable manufacturing.
Supply Chain Support
We also engage in the sale of key precious metal raw materials that are not directly tied to specific product orders, helping ensure a stable and reliable supply chain for our customers and partner industries.
