Environmental contribution through products

Green PGM products (registered trademark: Green PGM)

At the Tsukuba Plant, Furuya Metal achieves zero CO₂ emissions in its manufacturing processes by combining on-site solar power generation with the procurement of 100% renewable electricity verified through Non-Fossil Certificates.

Through the production and promotion of its Green PGM products, the company is committed to minimizing environmental impact and supporting the transition to a more sustainable society.

Sustainable resource utilization

Recycling of PGM products

Furuya Metal has developed proprietary technologies to address the complex challenge of recovering precious metals such as iridium (Ir) and ruthenium (Ru). These advanced methods enable efficient recovery and high-purity refining of PGMs from both high-grade and low-grade materials.

The recycled, high-purity metals are then reused in the production of new products, creating a circular business model. With a recycling capacity that surpasses global primary production levels, this capability stands as one of Furuya Metal’s core strengths.

Turning waste into valuable resources

Furuya Metal promotes initiatives to enhance the recyclability of plastic materials, focusing on recovering plastic corrugated boards (Pladan) as valuable polypropylene (PP) resources. Typically treated as industrial waste, these boards can be reclaimed as reusable materials by removing impurities such as tape and labels.

In addition to these efforts, the company is actively working to recover metals, as well as certain waste oils and liquids, as valuable resources.
